Tofik Arifov (Russian: ????? ?????? ; born May 1953), also known as Tevfik Arif , is a Turkish-born Turkish real estate developer and investor. He is the founder of Bayrock Group, a real estate development and investment firm known for his business with Donald Trump. Bayrock and Trump are partners at the troubled Trump SoHo and Trump International Hotel and Tower in Fort Lauderdale, sold after failing.

Early life and career
Tevfik Arif was born Tofik Arifov in a Turkish family in Dshambul, the Soviet Socialist Republic of Kazakh. He received an international relations degree from a university in Moscow. Before the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Arif worked at the USSR Trade and Trade Ministry for 17 years. He served as deputy director of the Hotel Management Department. Arif resigned from the ministry in 1991 and founded the Specialty Chemicals Trading Company, an import-export business in rare metals, chrome, and raw materials. He then worked as a "field agent" in Kazakhstan for Trans World Group, a natural resource company run by David and Simon Reuben.
Arif moved to Turkey in 1993. He has owned the Turkish jewelry business Alset Dis Ticaret since 1979. In 1999, Arif partnered with Rixos hotel chain to open Labada luxury hotel in Antalya, Turkey.
After the independence of Kazakhstan, Arif and his brother gained ownership of ACCP, a chromium plant at Aktobe headquartered in the British Virgin Islands. The brothers developed a relationship with "Kazakh Trio" - Alexander Mashkevitch, Patokh Chodiev, and Alijan Ibragimov. They then set up offshore real estate companies to finance top-class development in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkey.

Later career
Bayrock Group
In 2001, Arif transferred some of his business to the United States and established Bayrock Group, a real estate development company. He began developing properties in Brooklyn, first rebuilding Loehmann's Seaport Plaza, a seaside shopping center in Sheepshead Bay. Arif was originally Bayrock's only employee, then hired Felix Sater as managing director.
After moving the Bayrock Group to Trump Tower, Arif developed a relationship with billionaire businessman Donald Trump. Trump awarded a license agreement for the Trump SoHo hotel in a joint venture between the Bayrock Group and the Sapir Organization. In 2007, Bayrock traded future earnings from Trump SoHo and other projects in exchange for $ 50 million in financing from Iceland's FL Group Company. The arrangement directs Bayrock's chief financial officer to file a rape lawsuit, alleging that money is being transferred to people outside the company, including Salvatore Lauria, Sater's partner.
Trump and Bayrock then developed the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Fort Lauderdale. Arif also works to introduce Trump to investors from Russia. Through Bayrock, Arif collaborated with Trump on projects in Turkey, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Arizona, Colorado, New York, and Florida.

Legal issues
In 2010, Arif was arrested in Turkey and accused of running prostitution, accused of trafficking in persons from Russia and Ukraine. Arif is one of 10 people caught on a $ 60 million cruise ship in Savarona during a massive assault operation. The charges were eventually dropped.
Personal life
Arif is believed to live in Turkey. He owns a house in Port Washington. Although he is not a Jew, he is one of the largest donors in Chabad of Port Washington.
