Scary Movie 5 is a 2013 American horror comedy and the fifth installment of the Scary Movie franchise. This is the second film distributed by The Weinstein Company under the Dimension Films brand. The film was directed by Malcolm D. Lee and written by David Zucker. It was released on April 12, 2013.
Scary Movie 5 is the only franchise not to feature Cindy Campbell (played by Anna Faris) or Brenda Meeks (Regina Hall) (due to the end of their storyline). It aired on April 11th, at ArcLight Cinerama Dome Hollywood. The film parodies various horror movies and other popular cultures.

Plot
Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan gathered to make sex tapes with over 20 cameras by Sheen's bed. The fast-time ribbon passes forward through the two doing all kinds of bedroom antics, including gymnastics, horseback riding, and having a clown jumping under the sheets. Sheen is drawn into the air by paranormal powers and thrown into walls, shelves, and doors until she lands on the bed again. Lohan was frightened so she decided to go home when she flew into the air as well; he becomes possessed and throws Sheen into the camera and kills him. The text explains that Sheen's body was found on that day but he did not stop partying until a few days later, and that his three children were found missing, Lohan was arrested again, and a gift was given to the lost children.
A few months later, Ja'Marcus (Snoop Dogg) and D'Andre (Mac Miller) walked in the Humboldt County forest of California to search for marijuana plants to steal. After stealing one and fleeing, they take refuge in the cabin in the woods. Upon entering they saw three strange creatures, later confirmed to be Sheen's sons, and handed them over for a gift. Wild children are placed in isolation at a child development research center for several months until they are considered good enough to be returned to family custody. When Sheen's brother, Dan Sanders (Simon Rex) and his wife Jody (Ashley Tisdale) came to pick them up, they were told they could have them if they agreed to live in a suburban middle-class suburban house equipped with security cameras. Jody is reluctant to take the children at first but soon adjusts to having them. In an effort to bond with their new children, Jody auditioned for a ballet show, Swan Lake, and played a leading role as the Swan Queen.
Meanwhile, the strange pattern of paranormal activity in their new home makes them investigate further. They finally learn from the children that the attack on their house is with "Mama", the mother of the children, who is under a curse and is trying to get it back so she can sacrifice herself and the children. Maria, the couple's Hispanic maids, is frightened and continues to experiment with rituals, Catholics and others, to ward off evil spirits at home. During the day, Dan was frustrated by the simple progress of his test subjects at a primate intelligence research facility; Ironically, Dan is not smart enough to realize that one chimpanzee, Caesar, is now much smarter than he is.
Jody and Dan, with the help of Jody's close friend Kendra Brooks (Erica Ash), whom Jody met in her ballet class, had to find a way to lift the curse and save their family. Along the way, they seek the help of Blaine Fulda's psychic, who turns out to be complete cheating, and a dream extractor named Dom Kolb (Ben Cornish), who helps them understand that the solution to their problem lies in the mysterious Book of the devil. However, Jody and Kendra failed to see what the book could do, not realizing that the four friends were constantly being possessed and revived in the cabin. They wreak havoc when one of them reads two parts of this book; one that releases demons, "gort klaatu barada nikto", and the other that animates them from possession. When "Mama" takes the kids to the cliffs to sacrifice them, Jody fails to lift the curse with the book, but manages to hit the evil spirits into the pool of Ja'Marcus and D'Andre which contains live sharks, who then eat them..
Realizing the love for his adopted children is all he needs in life, Jody gives part of the Swan Queen to Kendra, who dances in the style of a stripper. The show was greatly welcomed by an audience that included Jody, Dan, the children, and Madea. The story narrator is revealed to be Caesar, who then tells the audience that humans should enjoy the time they have on earth and say that apes will one day take over the world.
In the post-credit scene, Sheen wakes up, with Dom Kolb sitting next to him, from the extraction of a dream, that is the whole movie is a dream. After Kolb informs that Sheen will sleep with Lohan, a car rammed into the room, killing Sheen. Lohan was declared a driver; he got out of the car, told Kolb "You're driving" and threw the keys at him, blaming the accident on him.

Development
The film was directed by Malcolm D. Lee and written by David Zucker. Anna Faris, who starred in previous films in the franchise, insists that she will not return for the fifth movie. Tisdale's involvement in the film was confirmed in June 2012.
Lohan and Sheen join the players in August 2012. Terry Crews joins the players on August 14, 2012.
Filming starts in September 2012. The first promotional picture of the film, featuring Lohan and Sheen in the first scene of the film, was released on September 20, 2012.
The only actors of any previous installments appearing in this film are Sheen, Rex, Hammond, and Shannon. They do not portray their original character, Sheen's star as herself, Rex plays Dan, Shannon plays Heather, and Hammond plays a doctor.
The film is mostly taken in and around Atlanta, Georgia in the fall of 2012, with additional filming January and February 2013 at Sunset Gower Studios in Los Angeles. David Zucker reportedly handled additional shooting and reshoots while Malcolm D. Lee started production for The Best Man Holiday .

In North America, the movie opened for # 2 on its first weekend with a disappointing $ 14,157,367, behind 42 , making it the lowest opening weekend for a movie on Scary Movie > franchise.
It is expected to take about half as much as its predecessor, about $ 17 million on its opening weekend. Scary Movie 5 was not filtered for previous criticism. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 4% score based on 50 reviews, with an average rating of 2 out of 10. The site's consensus states: "Teenagers even by Scary Movie standards , this fifth installment offers a pop culture joke resulting in some laughter. "At Metacritic, the film scored 11 out of 100, based on 16 reviews, showing" tremendous dislike ".
IGN gave this movie 1.0 out of 10. Stephanie Merry from The Washington Post gave the movie a zero star by saying, "This movie is so surprising that even the movie fans are laughing out loud through The Aristocrats will not feel anything but a deep emptiness when the final credit begins to roll, wondering if a strong joke is too much to ask from a movie that considers itself a comedy.
