Roy Donahue "Don" Peebles (born March 2, 1960) is a real estate entrepreneur, writer and political activist. Peebles is the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Peebles Corporation, a luxury hotel development company, high-rise residential and commercial property in New York City, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Miami Beach. Peebles owns 100% of The Peebles Corporation in accordance with corporate disclosure documents. In April 2015, Black Enterprise named Peebles as one of "Business Trailblazers and Titans of Black America: the 40 most powerful African Americans in the business".
In May 2009, Forbes listed Peebles in the top ten black blacks, and by January 2015 its net worth is estimated to be over $ 700 million.

Peebles was born in Washington, DC to Ruth Yvonne Willoughby and Roy Donahue Peebles Sr. His grandfather was the doorman at the Marriott Wardman Park hotel in Washington DC Peebles said that helping his father as a car mechanic as a child contributed to his strong ethical work. At the age of eight, Peebles moved to Detroit, where he spent five years getting back to Washington D.C. at the age of 13 and finishing high school while serving as a Congressional Page.

Careers
In 1979, after his first year as a student at Rutgers University Peebles came out and became a real estate sales and appraiser in Washington, DC On January 9, 1983, at the age of 23, he founded RDP Corporation, a residential and commercial real estate appraisal firm. Later that year, he was appointed to the Washington Council of Equality and Review by Marion Barry, the real estate tax appeal board currently known as the Real Property Appraisal and Appraisal Board. One year later, when Peebles was 24, Washington Mayor Marion Barry appointed him as Chairman of the Board where he served until 1988.
In 1986, a Peebles-led partnership acquired the site for its first real estate development project: a 100,000-square-foot office building (9,300m 2 ) in 2100 Martin Luther King Ave. SE. It was the first major new commercial building built in the Anacostia section of Washington, D.C. in decades. Peebles was 27 years old when the project failed.
In 1990, Peebles founded RDP Assessment Appeals Services, a Washington-based commercial tax assessment firm. Rovere continues to acquire commercial buildings and development sites in Washington, D.C. throughout the 1990s, including 10 G Street NE, and Convention Center Courtyard by Marriott.
In 1996, while on vacation with his family in Miami Beach, Peebles learned of the city's plans to ask for a bid for the redevelopment of the Royal Palm hotel of the 1930s. Peebles won the project, expanding it into a resort with 420 seaside rooms and suites comprising three towers, in the heart of Miami Beach overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The Royal Palm Resort became the nation's first major hotel developed and owned by an African American. Other Miami projects include The Residences at The Bath Club, a luxury residential tower, developed at the historic Bath Club property. The Bath Club originally opened in 1926 was one of the "limited" Floridia clubs then discriminatory does not allow black or Jewish members. In 1996 Peebles became the first African American Member of the club and in 1998 signed an agreement to buy it. Peebles also co-developed The Lincoln, a mixed-use development featuring Class A office space in South Beach. In early 2000, Peebles expanded to San Francisco, Las Vegas, and New York.
In November 2010, D.C. Attorney General Peter Nickles sued the Peebles company for being accused of overbilling; Peebles maintained the allegations were politically motivated as his opposition to Mayor Adrian Fenty failed in a re-election bid earlier that year. Its current development projects include: 108 Leonard Street (a.k.a. 346 Broadway), a luxury and condominium hotel in Manhattan's historic Clock Tower "Clock Tower"; in a joint venture with El-Ad Group. , 1801 Vine Street, a luxury boutique hotel in the historic Philadelphia Family Court Building; and The SLS Hotels and Residences, luxury hotels and condominiums in Washington, D.C., Mount Vernon Triangle; a large-scale hotel, retail and mixed-use housing called Viola in Boston's Back Bay, and a 17-acre development consisting of 12 buildings with a mix of uses including two hotels, offices, apartments and residential condominium buildings in Charlotte, NC Mecklenburg County, Karolina north. The project is named after Brooklyn Village. A JV Peebles team was awarded an exclusive right by the Los Angeles Community Development Agency to develop the tallest building in the western United States in downtown Los Angeles. Politics
Peebles is a Democrat. He and his wife have supported congressional, mayoral, governor and presidential candidates for years. In the early 1990s, the Washington Business Journal wrote an article citing Peebles as one of the city's "top fundraisers". In 1992, he hosted presidential candidate and Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton at his home for fundraising. Peebles served as a member of President Barack Obama's National Finance Committee for the 2008 presidential election and re-election campaign. In 2013, Peebles was elected vice chairman of the board of directors of the Caucus Black Congressional Foundation. In July 2015, he was appointed chairman of the board of directors of the CBCF and re-elected in February 2016, a role he held until February 2017 when he reached his term on board. Peebles is the only non-member of Congress elected to the position of Chairman of the CBCF.

Peebles moved to Miami, Florida, in 1998 then Coral Gables in 2001, owns a home in Bridgehampton, Coral Gables and New York City, and lives in Coral Gables and New York City with his wife Katrina, whom he married in 1994, is a former Executives and PR models serving on the Board of Directors of the Peebles Company, and their daughters.
His son Donahue is a Columbia University graduate and currently works as Associate of Development Senior at The Peebles Corporation, where he leads the development effort of Washington, D.C., his daughter Chloe is a riding competitor and two sporting athletes.
