Alan M. Leventhal (born 1953) is the founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Beacon Capital Partners. Leventhal has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Beacon Properties Corporation, one of the largest real estate trust (REIT) trustees in the United States.

Education
Leventhal was born to a Jewish family, the son of Muriel (nÃÆ' Â © e Guren) and Norman Leventhal. He has two siblings, Mark Leventhal, and Paula Leventhal Sidman. He received his bachelor's degree in economics from Northwestern University in 1974 and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 1976. Leventhal was Chairman of the Boston University Supervisory Board from 2003 to 2008, a guardian of Northwestern University and a supervisor of the Tuck Business School. He also serves on the board of the Association of Retirement Real Estate (PREA), Damon Runyon Cancer Research Council, and the Friends of Post Office Square council.
Leventhal has taught at the Tuck School of Business and the Massachusetts Technology Center (MIT) for Real Estate. Leventhal was awarded the Honorary Law Doctor of Boston University on May 17, 2009.

Philanthropy and rewards
Leventhal and his wife, Sherry, are philanthropists, who operate the Sherry Family Foundation and Alan Leventhal. They made a $ 5 million donation to Boston University. In addition, his family has awarded $ 10 million to the Boston Public Library for the creation of Norman B. Leventhal Map Center.
Leventhal was awarded the "Outstanding CEO Award" of Realty Stock Review for 1996 and 1997, and Commercial Property News Office Property Executive of the Year in 1996. In 2004 he received Ernst & New England Young Entrepreneurs from this year's awards.
Personal life
Leventhal has been married twice. His first wife was Carol (nÃÆ' Â © e Gant) Leventhal; they have three sons, Jeremy Nathaniel Leventhal, Alexander Leventhal, and Evan Levanthal. Leventhal married Sherry Marcus; they have two daughters. His wife got a B.A. in English at Northwestern University in 1974 and was a 1977 graduate of the Tulane School of Law. His sons, Alex and Jeremy, founded Faros Properties, a real estate investment firm based in Rye, New York, and New York City.
