Grunstein was named the "AV Preeminent" lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell, who recognized his high rank in legal ability and ethical standards. Book Book Recognition

While maintained by the Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village Tenants Association, Grunstein focuses on developing a structure and financing package that will help tenants buy complexes and keep their apartments affordable. On October 21, 2009, the Court of Appeal ruled that Tishman Speyer, the owner of the complex, had no right to take the apartment from a rental stabilization program. Grunstein has found a "mysterious" rental rule that does not allow the owner to take the apartment from the stabilization of the lease while also receiving tax breaks for renovation, called J-51 Program. The owners of Stuyvesant Town have been doing it for years. Grunstein's work earned him recognition in the New York Times real estate book Charles V. Bagli published in April 2013, People's Money: Inside the Housing Crisis and the Biggest Real Estate Agreement Pullback Ever Made.
