The University of Nevada, Las Vegas ( UNLV ) is an American public research university on the outskirts of Las Vegas, Paradise, Nevada. The 332-acre campus (134Ã, ha) is about 1.6 miles (2.6 km) east of the Las Vegas Strip. The university includes the Lane Lane Campus, just east of the Medical Center of the University of Southern Nevada, which has the School of Dental Medicine - the only school in Nevada. In addition, UNLV law school, William S. Boyd Law School, is also the only law school in the state.

Histori
The first college classes, which eventually became the UNLV class, were offered as the southern extension division of the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1959 in a classroom at Las Vegas High School. UNLV Research and economic development activities are increasing for the fourth year in a row, according to a final fiscal year report from the Division of Economic Research and Development. Most of the student life at UNLV revolves around the Student Union, or SU. The SU houses an office for student organizations and student organizations on the third floor.
Student governance
The University of Nevada Consolidated Student, Las Vegas, abbreviated as CSUN, is a graduate student at UNLV. Midtown UNLV is an ongoing private-public development along the Maryland Parkway, the border road to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Construction began in 2002 and the goal is to expand the university to meet the demands of a large university in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. This reduces the amount of heat absorbed into the building and therefore, reduces the energy needed to cool the building. The occupancy sensor allows the lamp to turn off automatically when the room is unoccupied, saving electricity. Low flow, toilets and showers, as well as drip irrigation systems for indigenous desert landscapes reduce water use by as much as 42%. SEB also uses a reclaimed water system that captures wastewater, providing 750 gallons of water a day used for flushing toilets.
