Old Port Montreal (French: Vieux-Port de Montrà © al ) is the historic port of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Located in Old Montreal, it stretches for more than two kilometers along the St-Lawrence River in Old Montreal. It was used as early as 1611, when French fur traders used it as a trading post.
In 1976, the activities of the Port of Montreal were moved east to the Port of Montreal now in the district of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
The Old Port was rebuilt in the early 1990s, under the direction of architect Aur̮'̬le Cardinal and Peter Rose. It is now a recreation and historical area and attracts six million tourists each year.

The historic Old Port offers Montreal visitors and visitors access to a variety of activities, including the MontrÃÆ'à © al Science Center, with IMAX Theater, and Montreal Clock Tower. The hotel offers riverfront access for walking, cycling, roller-blading, quadricycle, pedalo and Segway rentals. Old Montreal Ferris Wheel, on the banks of the Saint Lawrence River. It is also located at the eastern end of the Lachine Canal, which has been extensively refurbished as a popular destination for cycling, roller-blading and boating fun. Cultural events include the Festival MontrÃÆ'à © al en lumiÃÆ'ère, Igloofest and the Matsuri Japon festival.
In June 2012, a city beach, called Plage de l'Horloge (Beach Clock Tower), is open adjacent to the Clock Tower.
The Old Port of Montreal changed its name to The Quays of the Old Port of Montreal in 2005. Approximately every 2 years Cirque du Soleil launched a new show from Jacques Cartier Quay.
The Old Port was rejected as the proposed airborne gondola site.
The Old Port is also known as one of the most famous fishing spots in the Great Montreal area. The popular beach fishing position is Parc de la Cità © Ã
© -du-Havre, which provides a fishing spot with a vast range of fish species. In winter, Ice Fishing Events are held on the ice inside the old harbor.

Management
The Old Port is managed by Old Port of Montreal Corporation, a subsidiary of Canada Lands Company. Although a subsidiary of Canada Lands, Old Port reports directly to the government.
