Zoe Elizabeth Sugg (born March 28, 1990) is a British fashion and beauty vlogger, YouTuber, and author. He's best known by his YouTube username Zoella . The debut novel, Girl Online , was released in November 2014 and broke the record for the highest first-week sales of a novice novelist since Nielsen BookScan began compiling the record in 1998.

Personal life
Sugg is the older brother of Joe Sugg, who is also a vlogger and internet personality known on YouTube as ThatcherJoe. He grew up in Lacock, Wiltshire, where he attended the Corsham College School and Arts, and currently lives in Brighton, East Sussex. He has been in contact with fellow Youtube stars Alfie Deyes since early October 2012. The couple's relationship was first revealed to the public in a blog post by Zoe in August 2013.

Sugg worked as an apprentice in an interior design company when he created his blog, "Zoella", in February 2009. At the end of the year, he has a thousand followers and by September 2015, he has received over 540 million total visits. Fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blogs evolved into YouTube channels in 2009, while Sugg worked for UK apparel retailer, New Look.
In 2013, Sugg was named one of the ambassadors of the National Citizen Services, helping promote newly launched youth services. The following year he was named the "Digital Ambassador" to Mind, the mental health agency.

Sugg's main channel, Zoella, was first named "zoella280390" after his birth date, mostly fashion, beauty videos and "favorite" videos (showing his favorite products from the previous month). His second channel, MoreZoella, contains many vlogs where he shows viewers what he does in his day. He is a member of the Haul Style network and is represented by Dominic Smales in Gleam Futures. Sugg also appeared alongside many other YouTubers on the Daily Mix channel, run by Gleam. All the time on Youtube, Sugg has collaborated with other YouTubers, including: Louise Pentland, Tanya Burr, Alfie Deyes, Tyler Oakley, Troy Sivan, Grace Helbig, and many others.
Sugg is very influential through social media, mentioned by The Telegraph as one of the "Most influential Tweeters in the UK" in 2013. As of May 2018, Sugg's main YouTube channel has more than 12 million subscribers and more than 1 billion views video, and is the 147th most-featured channel on the website; Her second channel "MoreZoella" has more than 4.8 million subscribers and over 727 million video views. He also has over 13.6 million followers on Twitter and over 10.9 million on Instagram.

Sugg signed a two-book contract with Penguin Books in 2014. North American publishing rights were bought by Atria.
Sugg's debut novel, Girl Online , was released on November 25, 2014. The book is aimed at young adult audiences and surrounds an anonymous 15-year-old blogger and what happens when his blog becomes viral. Though based on similar experiences, Sugg has stated that the book was "never autobiographical". The novel achieved "the highest first week sales for the author's debut since the recording began in 1998," 78,109 copies. December 2014 is also the fastest selling book of the year.
Penguin states that "Sugg does not write Girl Online on himself", stating that he "has worked with an expert editorial team to help him live his character and experience in a moving and engaging story." It has been reported that young adult novelist Siobhan Curham is the author for others for this novel, although Penguin and Sugg do not state this. Penguin states that Curham is "editorial consultant" for this novel.
A sequel, Girl Online: On Tour , was released on October 20, 2015. The third book, Girl Online: Going Solo , was published on November 17, 2016. Sugg's book, Another YouTuber, criticized in 2017 for 'not enough challenge' in a number of British newspapers.
A non-fiction book, Invited Well , will be published by Hodder & amp; Stoughton in October 2018. It will offer suggestions for entertaining guests at home, and planning celebrations.
Music
Sugg performs in single 2014 "Do They Know It's Christmas?" as part of the Band Aid 30 supervision group, raised money for the Ebola virus epidemic in West Africa. The single debuted at No.1 on the UK Official Singles Chart.
Television appearance
In June 2014 Sugg became guest panelist at the Loose Women chats of the day. She also appeared on This Morning in July 2014, to talk about social anxiety. Sugg takes part in the 2015 comic help edition The Great British Bake Off .
Sugg, along with The Slow Mo Guys and Vice News, are featured in UK television, print and advertisement advertisements that run from September 25, 2014. TV premieres are broadcast on three UK terrestrial channels.
Zoella Beauty
Sugg launched a series of beauty products under the Zoella Beauty brand in September 2014. The launch of the "bathing and beauty" series is, according to Metro , "the biggest beauty launch of the year." He launched a product edition called "Tutti Fruity" in 2015, as well as a limited Christmas edition. In 2016 he launched an edition called "Sweet Inspiration". In July 2017, the "Jelly & amper Gelato" range was released.

At the end of 2016, Sugg along with Joe's YouTuber brother, released a range of branded items called 'Sugg Life' made in collaboration with The Creator Store, a company owned by Alfie Deyes and Dominic Smales of Gleam Futures. The term 'Sugg Life' is a play on 'Thug life', a phrase popularized by Tupac hip hop group in the 90s and later is an internet meme. The online store offers a variety of products such as hoodies, stickers, and phone boxes. In August 2017, The Creator Store opened a pop-up shop in Covent Garden which, for ten days, sold limited edition 'Sugg Life X PB' merchandise; Sugg Life brand collaboration and Deyes' 'Without Edge Blog'. As of May 2018, the online Sugg Life store is currently inactive and is being renovated.
Awards and nominations
Sugg won the Cosmopolitan Blog Award 2011 in the "Best Found Beauty Blog" category and later won the "Best Beauty Vlogger" award the following year. He was also awarded the "Best British Vlogger" Award 2013 and 2014 at Radio 1 Teen Awards; Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award 2014 for "British Favorite Vlogger"; and Teen Choice 2014 Award for "Star Web Choice: Fashion/Beauty".
Sugg is listed as one of The Telegraph's 40 best beauty bloggers in September 2014 and Queen of the Haul by British Vogue in November. Hers is the fourth most popular channel in the UK in 2014. He belongs in 2015 Debrett's 500 , the list of the most influential people in England, under the New Media category. In 2015 he was named the "Most Inspiring Women of the Decade" in technology by Grazia and he was named the 34th Sexiest Lady of the world by FHM.
Sugg won the "Choice Web Star" award in the 'Fashion/Beauty' category at the Teen Choice Awards 2015.
Criticism
Vlogging while driving
In December 2014, Sugg was criticized for filming while driving his car. A member of the Metropolitan Police said, "He could have killed someone.How can people who have their views from the street during that time are in complete control of the vehicle?", Suggers spokesman stated that "at the time of filming he was largely stationary traffic. "
Advent calendar
Sugg drew criticism from some of his followers and in the media during November 2017 after releasing the 12-door Advent calendar. with critics focusing on "extortion" prices and poor quality allegations. The calendar contained items such as a small box of confetti, a pack of seven stickers and a cookie cutter. A Suggling spokesman replied that "Zoe is very proud of her Christmas collection and is excited to see her in the store, but the pricing and promotional strategies in the collection, including the calendar, are in third party control and are not governed by Zoe."
Sugg apologized in November 2017 following the controversy surrounding posts he made on social media between 2009 and 2012 taunting gay people and "chavs". Sugg replied on Twitter claiming that his submission had been "taken out of context" and wrote "I'm sorry if I have offended anyone, it's not my intention."
