History
In 2008 Sawbuck raised $ 2 million in venture financing led by media company based in Dallas A. H. Belo Corp. In 2012 Sawbuck raised an additional $ 2 million, led by Washington DC real estate investor Robert Stewart.
Homesnap for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad was launched in March 2012 at the SXSW conference in Austin, TX. This app allows you to take a picture of every home in the United States to reveal details, covering the size of the lot, lot size, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, year built, tax estimates, exterior and roof detail, heating system, and others.
The features of Sawbuck's website include:
- News feeds similar to Facebook that provide status updates for homes such as price changes, open house or out of the market
- Maps-based home searches are not limited to geographic boundaries. Home buyers can pan, scroll and zoom the map, and the current area changes as they do, while still showing all the listings, even those that are outside the search area
- A custom video for each listing that allows the buyer to hear about the main details of the house and view the image without having to scroll, click, or read
- Market Health Scores, which combine metrics for inventory, changes in average selling prices, pull-throughs and "balance" (balance between new listing, price reductions, contracts and sales)
- Real-site cellular aware search site for mobile phones that detect user location using GPS
